There is a pleasure in the pathless woods
There is a rapture on the lonely shore
There is society, where none intrudes
By the deep sea, and music in its roar
I love not man the less, but Nature more…
- Lord Byron
But more importantly I've had good friends (and made new ones) to share these experences with, which brings up another quote:There is a rapture on the lonely shore
There is society, where none intrudes
By the deep sea, and music in its roar
I love not man the less, but Nature more…
- Lord Byron

I'm not real impressed with that "unlost yourself" part. Mom
Wow, what an interesting juxtaposition (to use a word I see you enjoy) of quotes you have there. I've long thought you and dad are Romantics in the American tradition of Emerson, Thoreau, Whitman, and the like. And McCandless fancied himself a Romantic as he embarked on his journey, so I'm it makes my soul happy that you've taken to heart his heart-breaking realization. Love you!
